Removing V-groove Angle Iron

Removing all of the angle iron from the rails. Most of the rot is directly under the angle where it would hold the water. Overall, only the cap rail is damaged. The underlying beams are still in really good shape. This rot area actually looks blackened almost like it's burned on the surface. Lightning?
