Boresighting the Rails

Boresighting the Rails

I tried multiple attempts to align a laser along the side of the rail inside the observatory and shoot it out past the roof, but none of my lasers were designed to sit right and placement was way too finicky. So instead, I went back to trying to boresight off of the angle iron rails using a boresight laser. That was finicky too, since any bit of rust in the tube would be enough to set it off, but this laser let me make three-point contact in the front and two points in the back to get it to settle straight. The west rail still had a problem because the angle was up off of the metal, so I rolled the roof off a foot and a half to push it down. Then the spot ended up right on center, but you can see the black dot near my sleeve cuff where it was pointing originally. I'm pretty happy with this alignment sitting right in the middle of the rail!
