M31 - Andromeda Galaxy - 101030

The Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31) is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Andromeda. It's approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth, making it the nearest major galaxy to the Milky Way, and is approximately 220,000 light years across. Also in the same field of view are Messier objects M32 and M110, both of which are satellite dwarf galaxies orbiting Andromeda.

This image was taken with my AstroTech AT-80LE using my modified and cooled Canon 450D. This image is the combination of a stack of nine ten-minute exposures combined with seven five-minute exposures to fill in the core. Stacked in DeepSkyStacker and combined and processed in Photoshop.
