M79 - Globular Cluster - 250123

M79 is a globular cluster at the south end of the constellation Lepus the Hare, which is south of Orion. It just barely gets above 30 degrees of elevation here, making it challenging to image. The cluster is about 42,000 light-years away from Earth and is believed to have been captured from the nearby Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy.

This stack of 34 one-minute exposures were taken with my C11 with the 0.7x focal reducer and QHY-247C camera on January 23, 2025.
