M104 - Sombrero Galaxy - 180322

The Sombrero Galaxy (Messier/M104 or NGC 4594) is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Virgo. It has a dark, prominennt dust lane around its inclined disk and a large central bulge giving it the appearance of a sombrero. It is located approximately 31,100,000 light years from Earth and has a diameter of approximately 50,000 light-years, making it 30% of the size of the Milky Way. The galaxy has an apparent magnitude of +8.0, making it easily visible with amateur telescopes in dark skies.

This image is a DSS stack of 35 ten-minute frames captured with my QHY247C at default deep sky gain settings on my 11" Edge HD. The image was processed by going back and forth between PixInsight and Photoshop.
