Backwards Telescopes
Sadly, many of the telescopes purchased by amateurs end up for sale (these days on Craig's List) because their owners never actually figure out how to use them properly. Some of these are incredibly obvious just from the pictures posted by their owners showing them assembled wrong where it's obvious they wouldn't work for astronomy. These tend to fall into two categories. Many are Newtonians shown with the mirror end pointing to the skies, while the rest are usually in a mount where they could never point to the sky. Some just have guide scopes or other accessories backwards.
