I finally decided to replace my wide angle NTSC video camera with a more advanced USB astro camera capable of high resolution all-sky images. I went through a couple of iterations, starting with a ZWO ASI290MC, but problems with the USB 3.0 support altered my plans away from using an embedded stick PC to run the camera and upload the images. Instead I went to a simple USB 2.0 extender that could operate over the existing Ethernet cable I'd run to the location and am capturing data on the warm room desktop computer. I also switched to the ASI178MC camera which had a larger sensor and a better FOV. You can see some of the first pictures
here, and the live camera feed is available from the
weather page.
