NGC 4490 - Cocoon Galaxy - 180415

NGC 4490, the Cocoon Galaxy, is a barred spiral galaxy that can be seen interacting with its smaller companion NGC 4485, resulting in it being a starburst galaxy similar to M82. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici at a distance of 25 million light years from Earth.

This image is a cropped DSS stack of 49 ten-minute frames taken with my QHY247C at default deep sky gain settings on my 11" Edge HD. The image was processed in a back and forth combination of PixInsight and Photoshop.
