NGC 891 Galaxy

NGC 891 (also known as the Silver Sliver Galaxy) is an edge-on unbarred spiral galaxy about 30 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda. The galaxy is similar in size and shape to our own Milky Way galaxy seen edge on.

This stack of 53 five-minute exposures were taken from December 26th-29th, 2024 using my QHY247C on my Celestron Edge HD C11 with the 0.7x focal reducer. This was the first of a series of images with my new 3D printed auto-focuser on my old Zhumell Crayford SCT focuser, allowing me to clamp down the primary mirror and avoid mirror flop. The image was processed in PixInsight.
